A One-Year Advanced Certificate Course

in Family Therapy (2017-2018)

Every Thursday (6:30 – 9:30pm) from October 2017 to May 2018

 

Course Objectives:

This one-year course is designed for human service professionals who are interested in acquiring hands-on clinical practice in family therapy. Family cases, live or taped, will be used extensively as a platform for participants to acquire the relevant concepts and theories, walk through the therapeutic process, identify the movements necessary to produce change in family, and organize the multitude of ways to conceptualize and intervene in family relational problems.

 

Course Highlights:

Ÿ   Multi-disciplinary intensive training with live families

Ÿ   Ample opportunities to watch seasoned therapists in action at our Evening Clinic, Live Case Demonstration, and other clinical activities

Ÿ   Tailor-made training based on the participant’s level of expertise and experience

Ÿ   Additional 1-day workshop at the end of the course for participants to review their progress*

Certificate of Completion:

The course is run on a yearly basis and begins with a 2-day workshop held at AAFT on 29 & 30 September 2017. Participants with at least 80% attendance record will receive a certificate issued by AAFT upon course completion. Participants can extend the training and those who have completed the three-year training will receive a special certificate. Graduates with satisfactory performance may be eligible for Fellow membership at AAFT. They may also be invited to join the AAFT “Train the Trainer” program.

 

Course Evaluation:

Participants will receive on-going feedback throughout the clinical practice from a designated mentor. They are expected to produce a video or self-reflection to demonstrate their learning at the end of their study.

 

Fee:

HK$31,400 (HK$30,600 for Members of the AAFT)

Entry requirement:

Applicants must have basic training in Marriage and Family Therapy, preferably with experience in working with families.
